Halloween Can Still Be Safe and Fun (Safe Snacks and More Advice for Around the Halloween Season)

Image
If you have food allergies, sometimes the scariest thing about Halloween is the candy. It really doesn't have to be! I have an anaphylactic egg allergy (and peanuts) and still enjoy Halloween just as much as every kid, except I don't eat all the candy. If you put it in perspective candy doesn't have to be a big part of Halloween. You can still dress up and have fun hanging out wit friends! As you get older candy becomes   less and less important anyway. I mean you don't see adults trick-or-treating for candy, do you? And your body and teeth will thank you for eating less sugar. Here are some safe allergy friendly Halloween candy brands. Some of them, you can even enjoy as  snacks or special treats outside of Halloween. I have spent a LOT of time after trick-or-treating researching candies that are safe to eat and which ones aren't. I wanted to create this post to save you the hassle of having to research all of the candy/snacks that are safe to eat...

Image
This is a post to recognize all the good that comes out of having food allergies. When you have food allergies it's easy to get caught up and frustrated about all the bad things in having food allergies, but if you stand back and look at the bigger picture there's a lot of bonuses to having food allergies. So if your having a bad day and feeling frustrated about your food allergies this post might be good to read. Even if you're an exhausted parent, tired of stressing and having to deal with food allergies, here's the silver lining. 1. When you have food allergies you grow closer to family and have a better relationship with your parents. Like any family that has hardships or disabilities the family has to come together and work as a team. When I look at other kids that aren't close to their families, I realize just how lucky I am to have such a strong bond with my family. My mom is my best friend and there's a trust there that can't be b...

Shout Out to Those People Who Rock!

Image
This is a shout-out to the people in my life who have been super supportive and have REALLY gone out of their way to make my life easier because of their kindness. Life can be a little more challenging and complicated when you have food allergies, and people can make it either easier or harder. What inspired this post is an act of kindness today that meant a lot to me.  Today I realized just how big of an impact people in my life can have on me for better or for worse. Some people have shown me what I want to be like and some have shown me what I don’t want to be like . Food is a part of everyday life. Birthday celebrations, sleepovers, weddings, picnics, holidays, and even family get togethers. Maybe your asking “How can someone have such an impact on someone when it comes to food?”  People without food allergies don't have to give any of these events a second thought. They don't have to give food a second thought. Their biggest worry is what they are g...

Dear Teacher

Image
Dear Beloved Teachers , who blessed me with so many amazing ' teachable moments ' as you loved to call them. (This is a shout out to all of the teachers who have made me feel super uncomfortable in the classroom) Thank you so much for leaving me out of EVERY single birthday celebration that has included food. It made me want to jump for joy and scream at the top of my lungs how happy I was! It made me feel SUPER special and warm and fuzzy all over. That cupcake looked super gross anyway. I especially loved when you would have me sit at my very own table ALL by myself (because I was brand new to the school and nobody wanted to sit with me at my egg free table). Oh wait! That's because EVERY treat you gave out contained some sort of egg product. Even the lollipop you gave my at the end of the school year. Good job, you ALMOST succeeded in killing me, but here I am blogging about my wonderful and magical moments🤗. I remember when you made us make skeletons out of nood...
